Rev. John A. F. Corgan, Senior PastorPastor Corgan has been serving Emanuel Lutheran Church as its Senior Pastor since his arrival to Hartford in 1997. Whether it's in the classroom, on the basketball court, or in the pulpit, Pastor Corgan is continually looking for ways to encourage people in their faith and to empower them to respond to God's Call to service in Christ. A graduate of St. Olaf and Luther Seminary, Pastor Corgan has served congregations in Washington D.C. and Kennebunk, Maine. With his wonderful wife, Deborah, he has five children.
Melissa Moll, Minister of MusicDr. Melissa Moll has faithfully served as Emanuel's Minister of Music since 2005. In that time, Melissa has a gift for creating worship experiences that are both meaningful and true to Lutheran teaching. Formerly on the Bethany College faculty in Kansas, Melissa is fitting in perfectly at Emanuel as she continues to support the whole life of the congregation with her gifts.
David E. Harper, Minister of Music EmeritusDavid Harper grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA. He attended and graduated from Capital University in Ohio with a degree in Music. After receiving a Masters Degree from Westminster Choir College in 1957, he began a treaasured relationship with Emanuel Lutheran Church. He hosts the long-running radio show, "Radio Voice of Religion" on WJMJ (88.9 FM)each Sunday morning at 9:00.
E. J. Sweeney, VicarE. J. comes to Emanuel this year for his "Internship Year" through Philadelphia Seminary. He grew up in Bloomfield, CT and studied at Trinity College and Yale Divinity School. He resides in Windsor with his wife Cherie.
Natalie Bloomquist, Christian Education DirectorNatalie has been a member of Emanuel for twenty years and has served as Director of Christian Education for the last few years. She is married to Gary and they have two daughters. Natalie just recently completed here seminary studies and is the brains behind all of the education programs at church. One day, Natalie will be an Associate in Ministry of the ELCA.
Harlan Pergande, Administrative AssistantEllen Anderson, Administrative AssistantHarlan and Ellen have managed to do the impossible. They are Emanuel's administration team. They almost never work at the same time, and yet nothing ever goes awry. Everything gets done. All the "T"s are crossed and the "I"s dotted. They are amazing. Any questions about anything at all gets funneled into their office. Somehow, they are able to keep Emanuel on track.
Karin O'Keefe, Church Office SecretaryKarin has been working at Emanuel since 2001. She is a life-long member of the congregation and an absolute Godsend for the staff and members. She is the primary support person for the whole staff. She is the first point of contact for anyone calling or visiting the church. She is the nicest person and is so happy to help.
Rev. Richard Burgess, Visitation PastorPastor Burgess began his ministry at Emanuel in January of 2006, making connections with members and friends who aren't able to come to be at worship as often as they'd like. Pastor Burgess works at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington as a Chaplain.
Rachid Chelali, SextonRachid and his family have been in the United States for four years. Rachid is THE REASON why people reflect upon how beautiful and clean our building is. No one else can make the floors shine like our own Rachid. He has a smile on his face and a pleasant greeting for everyone he encounters.
