LEADERSHIPSTAFF
Natalie Bloomquist, Christian Education DirectorNatalie has been a member of Emanuel for twenty years and has served as Director of Christian Education for the last few years. She is married to Gary and they have two daughters. Natalie just recently completed here seminary studies and is the driving force behind all of the education programs at church. Natalie is an Associate in Ministry of the ELCA.
Rev. Richard Burgess, Visitation PastorPastor Burgess began his ministry at Emanuel in January of 2006, making connections with members and friends who aren't able to come to be at worship as often as they'd like. Pastor Burgess works at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington as a Chaplain.
Rev. John A. F. Corgan, Senior PastorPastor Corgan has been serving Emanuel Lutheran Church as its Senior Pastor since his arrival to Hartford in 1997. Whether it's in the classroom, on the basketball court, or in the pulpit, Pastor Corgan is continually looking for ways to encourage people in their faith and to empower them to respond to God's Call to service in Christ. A graduate of St. Olaf College and Luther Theological Seminary, Pastor Corgan has served congregations in Washington D.C. and Kennebunk, Maine. With his wife, Deborah, he has five children.
Jonathan Reuning-Scherer, Minister of MusicJonathan joined the staff as Minister of Music in May, 2009 after serving as Minister of Music at Emanuel Lutheran in Manchester, CT for 13 years. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, Jonathan is passionate about liturgy, world music, and the use of music as a means to connect people to each other and to the larger church. Jonathan has led several immersion trips to the ELCA Center in Mexico City and has a strong interest in social justice. He is also lecturer in Statistics at Yale University and founder of GODSONG, an ecumenical auditioned choir in the Greater Hartford Area. His wife Julie is an ELCA pastor.
Ellen Anderson, Administrative AssistantHarlan and Ellen have managed to do the impossible. They are Emanuel's administration team. They almost never work at the same time, and yet nothing ever goes awry. Everything gets done. All the "T"s are crossed and the "I"s dotted. They are amazing. Any questions about anything at all gets funneled into their office. Somehow, they are able to keep Emanuel on track.
Rachid Chelali, SextonRachid and his family have been in the United States now for nine years, and he was worked at Emanuel since 2001. Rachid is THE REASON why people reflect upon how beautiful and clean our building is. No one else can make the floors shine like our own Rachid. He has a smile on his face and a pleasant greeting for everyone he encounters.

Karen Rudewicz, Church Office AssistantKaren is the primary support person for the whole staff. She is the first point of contact for anyone calling or visiting the church. Karen exudes a gentle kindness and is always ready to help.
David E. Harper, Minister of Music EmeritusDavid Harper grew up outside of Pittsburgh, PA. He attended and graduated from Capital University in Ohio with a degree in Music. After receiving a Masters Degree from Westminster Choir College in 1957, he began a treasured relationship with Emanuel Lutheran Church, serving as Minister of Music from 1957-2000.
