Coffee Hour
Coffee Hour is an important ministry here at Emanuel. On Sunday mornings various individuals, couples and families serve as hosts for this time of fellowship and refreshment. Given the geographic diversity of Emanuel’s membership, Sunday coffee hour is one of the great ways this congregation helps members, friends and visitors connect with one another.

Congregational Work Parties
Seasonally, members and friends of Emanuel enjoy gathering together to beautify the church property inside and out.

Office Volunteers
Members and friends derive great enjoyment from working together in the church office on various projects.

Hospitality Volunteers
For special events involving receptions and for congregational meals, there are  those who step up to decorate, prepare food, serve or clean up and enjoy one another's company as they work.

High School Youth Group
Emanuel’s Youth Group is dedicated to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the youth of our community.  We learn more about our faith, have fun together, and participate in community service projects to help both our congregation and community. Our Youth Group includes teens in grades 8 through 12, and we meet at least twice per month, usually on Sundays after church and for special events and retreats.

Emanuel Seniors Together
Regular events and programs are scheduled for Emanuel’s senior members and friends.

Emanuel Craft Groups  meet weekly all year long to prepare for the Harvest Holly Craft Fair held each year on the last Saturday in October.  In addition, many members of the congregation work at home to make items to donate to the Fair.  This highly successful event has been happening for over 40 years.  Proceeds from the Fair are directed to ministries at Emanuel and local and world charities.

Special Events
Throughout the year, Emanuel offers various programs: guest speakers, trips, retreats and other opportunities for study, growth and development.

Lucia Festival
This traditional Swedish Christmas custom has been celebrated each December at Emanuel since 1914!  All are welcome! Join us on the first Friday of December for Lucia.

Nativity Festival
With a visual feast of color on the Sunday before Christmas, the children of Emanuel present the story of Jesus’ birth.

Enjoying our Hartford Neighborhood
Emanuel is situated in the heart of the city, near the Capitol, State Library, Bushnell Theater and Park Carousel.  The St. Patrick's Day Parade forms in front of Emanuel each March.  Hartford's First Night fireworks can be enjoyed from the front steps of the church.  Bushnell Park and Carousel provide the perfect destination for picnics in the shade of the grand old oaks.  Park Street, a short walk to the south, boasts a parade in the fall and a Three Kings' Parade complete with camels on Epiphany each January.  A hard-to-resist Farmers’ Market is held on the next block, on Broad Street, every Thursday throughout the summer months.
