Central to Emanuel’s life is our ministry to and with those beyond our congregation.  Our Social Ministry Committee offers many ways in which Emanuel’s members connect with our church neighbors, the city of Hartford and the global community.

Friday Night ProgramFRIDAY NIGHT PROGRAM

Emanuel’s gym is open to neighborhood youth on Friday afternoons and evenings.  Children, kindergarten through eighth grade, are welcome from 3:30 to 5:30 to enjoy crafts, toys, board games, baking, basketball and other activities supervised by teen and adult volunteers.  Later, high school and post high school youth are welcome to play basketball until 9:00.  This is a neighborhood outreach program that began over 25 years ago.

Scholarship Program - Each year Emanuel members and friends contribute funds to provide financial help to young men and women in our Friday night program (high school seniors and post high school young people) who are pursuing higher education.

Back to School Supplies - Every summer Emanuel members and friends purchase school supplies and fill backpacks for our neighborhood children, helping to get their school year off to a good start.

Friday Night Program Library To encourage reading, gently-used books are collected and made available to the neighborhood children.

Christmas Ministry - A Christmas party is given for the neighborhood children in the Friday Program complete with food, gifts and Santa.

Anyone wishing to become involved in any of these ministries is invited to contact the church office.
